Frequently Asked Questions

Who can apply for a grant?

1

Children and young adults ages 5 to 22 living in Tennessee, from households with income below 200% of the federal poverty level. A parent or guardian can apply, or a coach, school staff member, or program administrator can apply on the child's behalf.

What do grants cover?

2

Equipment: helmets, pads, cleats, uniforms, gloves, bats, balls, and protective gear. Camps and clinics: youth sports camps, position clinics, and summer training. Programs and registration: league fees, travel team dues, school athletic fees, and tournament costs.

How much can we request?

3

Grants are capped at $1,000 per child per calendar year. The board may grant exceptions. Team and group grants are available, and the cap applies per athlete, not per team. Ask for what you genuinely need. We review every request individually.

How are grants paid?

4

Whenever possible, we pay the sports organization, camp, or retailer directly so funds go exactly where they're needed. Recipients share proof of use within 30 days of funding. We'll explain the process when your grant is approved.

Is my information kept private?

Yes. Application details are confidential and used only for review. We only share athlete stories or photos with explicit family permission.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. The Coach Kevin Foundation is a Tennessee 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 42-3424944). Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Can I volunteer if I'm not a coach?

Absolutely. We need event help, media and photography, fundraising support, application reviewers, and behind-the-scenes admin help. Visit the Volunteer page to sign up.
